Kapolei, HI

Location Image

Just 14 miles from Honolulu, Kapolei is the second largest business center on the island of Oahu. With all the advantages of being in Hawaii (beautiful vistas and a balmy climate), Kapolei also offers more affordable living costs than its big sister town of Honolulu. Beach, golf, diving and other water sports are the big draw here, but there is also a rich cultural and historic legacy worth exploring at places like The Bishop Museum and the Iolani Palace, both just minutes from Kapolei. The Pearl Harbor Monument and Museum are also nearby.

Because Hawaii is in the mid-Pacific Ocean, it has long been a destination for travelers and immigrants from Eastern countries such as Japan, China and Indonesia. European and American explorers and missionaries began arriving in the 17th and 18th centuries. Over the years, all of these groups helped create one of the most diverse and interesting cultures in the world.
