Blandon, PA
The town of Blandon is located in beautiful Pennsylvania farm country. The region is quiet and rural, with the result that crime is low and housing costs tend to be more reasonable than in more developed areas. The nearest large municipality is Reading, PA, a historic town best known for lending its name to the famous Reading Railroad, which shipped anthracite coal from the Pennsylvania Coal Region to cities along the Schuylkill River. You probably know the Reading Railroad as one of the four railroad properties in the game of Monopoly. (You may have even “owned” it several times!)
If you live in Blandon, you can expect to visit Reading often for all it has to offer. The town has a large outlet shopping complex, where tourists come by the busloads to pick up name-brand bargains. But Reading is also rich In history and culture. Love mushrooms? Be sure to plan a trip to the Mushroom Museum in Kennett Square, just a short drive from Blandon.
In December 2007, the Today show featured Reading as one of the top four "Up and Coming Neighborhoods" in the United States because of its potential for a real estate boom. Reading was chosen for its neighborhood renovation programs, cleanups of parks, waterfronts, and warehouses and its proximity to Philadelphia, New York City and other business centers.
