Major-Grants (Requests by invitation only)
To maximize the impact of our larger community investments, and to give them as much focus as possible, C&S has chosen the following target areas of giving and charities:
- Hunger
Applications are accepted from statewide or regional food banks that are members of America’s Second Harvest in areas where C&S has operations.
America’s Second Harvest is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to feeding those in need through local food pantries, community kitchens, senior centers, day care centers, and after school programs.
Major Grants to food banks are for programs, projects, equipment, or general operations. (by invitation only)
Please note: Local community kitchens and food pantries within 20 miles of a C&S facility are eligible for Mini-Grant consideration only.)

- Hunger Leadership
Applications for this area are currently by invitation only. The aim of our Hunger Leadership grants is to inspire and train young people – with new ideas and fresh energy – to address the root causes of hunger in the United States.
- Children
Funds in this area have been committed through 2008 to First Book (a national children’s literacy program with specific initiatives in C&S communities), America’s Second Harvest (to develop a childrens’ nutrition curriculum for Kids Cafes nationwide), and National CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates, for efforts in C&S communities).
For information please visit: www.firstbook.org, www.secondharvest.org, and www.nationalcasa.org .
- Health and Social Services
C&S has chosen to support the United Way as the premiere organization that identifies and addresses the most critical social services issues in our communities. Although not required to complete the Major Grant application, more than 50 United Ways from coast to coast receive support from C&S through a dollar-for-dollar match to our Associates’ donations. The company is proud to be a member of the United Way’s National Corporate Leadership Program.
- Recurring Support
By invitation only, C&S may encourage certain nonprofit organizations in our corporate headquarter communities to apply for a Major Grant. Typically, these organizations have a long relationship with C&S and a history of adding to the fabric of life in Keene, NH and Brattleboro, VT.
